It may have been a penalty.

It may have been a great shot but it was also a great save.

It was a dangerous challenge and the referee ignored.

Only if it had gone in instead of hitting the post.

Because so and so is injured!

Forget about it :D

It's all good! Because in 2014 we restart again to foolishly enjoy those great moments of soccer that we talk about.

The Trident in La Liga

Real Madrid, Barca and Atletico are La Liga's Trident

The last time La Liga crowned a team that was not Real Madrid or Barcelona was almost a decade ago. In the season of 2003-04 it was Valencia C.F. that enjoyed the sweet taste of victory.

Something similar could happen in the 2013-14 season, as there are three clear candidates that are not willing to give their opponents an inch of advantage. Barcelona is in the top of the table by goal difference but is tied in points with Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid has already lost to Atletico and Barcelona in the first meetings, for that reason has a slight disadvantage in points and is seating on third place.

The next games to come in La Liga are very important for the three contenders. Dropping points at this stage means that the chances of winning La Liga title would have to wait.

In January 11 the meeting between Barca and Atletico promises to be an explosive game. Though Barca has proven to be efficient with their style of play, Atletico is showing every weekend that they are a tough team to beat. Diego Costa has scored 19 goals in 17 games; the Atletico man is real threat to opponents.

Barca has a handful of stars that can change things around really quickly.  Also Lionel Messi should be fit and ready to play, Neymar and Pedro have been putting their names on the scoreboard.

Fascinating stuff to come for the rest of La Liga in 2014.

Real Madrid is not too far behind and they are a dangerous team that wants to taste both La Liga and the Champions League trophies. The team has Cristiano Ronaldo and company to do the job.

Definitely the fight for the titles is not between Real and Barca this season. Atletico has become a team of warriors that deserves to lift silverware this year as well.

Interesting Mixture of Flavors in World Cup Brazil 2014

Interesting draw for the World Cup Brazil 2014 and the entire planet will paralyze for that month to watch the magnificent sporting event that begins on June 12 and ends on July 13, 2014.

Group A

Brazil       Croatia      Mexico    Cameroon

The host country will have total support of its people, the Brazilians will teach their opponents how to dance samba. It is undoubtedly an interesting group; Mexico and Croatia are warriors that do not give up easily and have demonstrated their capabilities in previous World Cups. And Cameroon is composed of a squad of strength and speed.

Group B

Spain    Netherlands       Chile     Australia

This group brings us the final of last World Cup; Spain VS Netherlands will be a fascinating game. Chile and Australia are the underdogs they have not done so well on previous tournaments but every four years brings teams that surprise us.

Group C

Colombia    Greece      Ivory Coast        Japan

This group has all the flavors: South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. These group is certainly unpredictable, every game seems to be really good given that these teams are not on the elite favorites but they are not to be disregarded either.

Group D

Uruguay    Costa Rica    England    Italy

This group has England and Italy as the favorites to go through in the group stages but they will have to battle it out against Uruguay who not only did really well in the last World Cup but also is composed of skilled game changers.

Group E

Switzerland   Ecuador     France    Honduras

In this group The Swiss and the French have the strength and speed to pass Honduras and Ecuador but sometimes the favorite teams are the ones that pack their bags earlier to watch the rest of the tournament from home.

Group F

Argentina    Bosnia-Herzegovina      Iran       Nigeria

Speed, strength and skills collide every time Argentina plays against Nigeria, definitely an interesting match to watch. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran are not well known in the football world but sometimes those teams are the ones that become a pain in the ass.

Group G

Germany    Portugal    Ghana     United States

What a group this is!! There is no underdog here. Even the US Soccer team has shown strength and competence in previous world cups. These group is just fascinating; Klismann versus his native Germany, the US gets a chance of revenge against Ghana. And Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo.

Group H

Belgium   Algeria    Russia    South Korea

This is an interesting group; Belgium and Russia seem to be the strongest of the four teams but again the World Cup is usually full of surprises and next summer will not be an exception. Algeria and South Korea could turn out to be difficult to beat.

Barca is Missing their Messiah!

The Blaugrana are still leaders in La Liga with three points ahead of archrival Real Madrid but the last two games show they are Messi-dependant.
Since Messi’s departure to Argentina due to injury Barca has been struggling in their attacking form. In the last two games in which they lost against Ajax in the Champions League and Athletic Bilbao in La Liga respectively show how Barca has lost their compass and now they find themselves looking for answers.

Well! The answer is clear, they are missing key players that provide the rhythm that break the opponent’s defense. It is not only Messi that is missing in action. It is clear that Jordi Alba and Dani Alves as well as starting goalkeeper Victor Valdes are game changers who are not playing due to injury.
Valdez injury is a big blow for the Blaugrana. He has made great saves this season that have helped the team walk away with three points. There is no doubt that Barca will be a different team in January when those fantastic players step back in the pitch to make the difference.

Let’s not forget that Messi in a good day can score goals even with his ears!

Neymar has been criticized for not finding the net as much as expected since Barca paid a huge sum for the Brazilian star. But he is still in the learning process, the ball rolls a little bit faster than what he was used to, and for a 21 year old playing for an elite team in Europe he is not doing too bad. His time will come.

Barca needs to run faster!

But so much is expected from Barca; a team that has only been beaten once this season in La Liga. Perhaps because the way they have been beaten! Though they only lost by the minimum; fans know that the team is not synchronizing well. Their passes were intersected, their speed lasted twenty minutes in their last match and they were not able to create many chances of goal.

It is good for La Liga to shake things up for the title race. La Liga has been predictable because it has been either Barca or Madrid that takes title home. But this season Atletico de Madrid has been showing up as a strong contender and a clear candidate to take the crown. This clearly puts a different spin compared to previous seasons and now the title race is formed by a trident of strong teams that will not give up easily in the next games to come.
